How to calculate your Student Contribution Amount:

1. Enter your units’ credit points in the correspondence SCA Band and discipline group.
2. Click on Calculate button
3. The total Credit Point, EFTSL and Student Contribution Amount will be displayed on the screen. Refer to your commencement year of study to ascertain the correct Student Contribution Amount.

A standard full time year of study is equivalent to 48 credit points or 1 EFTSL

Note: Some students who were enrolled prior to 2008 and have not completed their course in a non-Natural and Physical Sciences (non-NPS) course of study, and on or after 1 January 2009, transfer to a Natural and Physical Sciences (NPS) course of study, may be eligible for a National Priority rate for Mathematics, statistics and science units and the pre-2008  rate for Accounting, Administration, Economics and Commerce units.

Example:

  1. Emma commences a Bachelor of Economics in 2009; where she enrols in eight units of equal weighting (0.125 EFTSL) comprising a standard full-time load (1.000 EFTSL). Emma enrols in six economics units and two arts units. Her student contribution amount (SCA) for 2009 is calculated as follows:

    (6 x 0.125 = 0.750 x $8,677 = $6,507) + (2 x 0.125 = 0.250 x $5,201 = $1,300) = $7,807
  2. John commenced a Bachelor of Economics in 2007; this year he enrols in eight units of equal weighting (0.125 EFTSL) comprising a standard full-time load (1.000 EFTSL). John enrols in six economics units and two arts units. His student contribution amount (SCA) for 2009 is calculated as follows:

    (6 x 0.125 = 0.750 x $7,412 = $5,559) + (2 x 0.125 = 0.250 x $5,201 = $1,300) = $6,859
